If the ANR system is turned off or the power to the system is interrupted for example by batteries running down then the system will revert to a comms only failsafe and passive protection level of the standard helmet.

The system is available with coiled or straight cables and quality LEMO connectors – the system can be battery powered or powered directly from the aircraft. You can simply change from aircraft power to battery, just by plugging in to a battery pack.

The system is available to suit most aircraft intercoms – with (USA Low impedance) 19 ohm, UK NATO) 150ohm or (Civil Spec and police ASU) 600 ohm speakers. See the attached technical assessment of the HSL ANR system for actual measurements of the typical performance it provides. The HSL system is fitted to most UK Police Air Support Helicopters.

The HSL ANR system is also available with the standard BOSE 6 pin plug so you can plug directly into a helicopter fitted with the BOSE installed kit.

ANR Battery Box
The HSL ANR Battery box is available with a range of standard connectors to interface with all common aircraft types – UK NATO, USA Mil Plug, Twin Plug etc.

A helmet with the HSL ANR system installed can simply plug in to it and will be powered up. There is a locking toggle switch to turn on / off the battery power and an LED illuminates when switched on. There is clothing clip to secure the box to your flight suit or you can Velcro it to a suitable location in the aircraft.
