Active Noise Reduction

PLEASE NOTE THAT OUR ANR SYSTEM IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE AND WILL BE REPLACED IN MAY 2022 WITH NEW SYSTEM

Our Active Noise Reduction system offers all of the benefits of high performance noise reduction technology, with improved speech intelligibility and superb wearer comfort, and is a proven method for combating the unwanted, and often dangerous levels of noise experienced in modern civil and commercial helicopters and other aircraft.

The Alpha helmets are ideally suited for our Active Noise Reduction (ANR) system. The ANR modules replace the standard earphones and a new downlead is installed. The original passive performance of the helmet as well as the fit of the helmet are unaffected by the installation of the ANR system. If the ANR system is turned off or the power to the system is interrupted, for example by batteries running down then the system will revert to a communication only failsafe and passive protection level of the standard helmet. The system is available with coiled or straight cable and a quality 8 Pin Lemo connector, and can be connected to a battery box or powered directly from the aircraft.

The system is available to suit most aircraft intercoms with (USA Low impedance) 19 ohm, UK NATO) 150ohm or (Civil Spec and police ASU) 600 ohm speakers. Our system is fitted to all UK Police Air Support Helicopters, and is also available with the standard Bose 6 pin plug so you can plug directly into a helicopter fitted with the BOSE installed kit. We recommend that Gel Ear Pads are fitted during the install as they give a better seal around the ear and enhance the performance of the ANR.

HSL ANR Kit

The HSL ANR Kit offers approximately 12dB of extra attenuation whilst retaining the passive attenuation and fit of the original helmet. The system is available with coiled or straight downlead which is terminated with either a Bose-style 6 Pin Lemo, or a 7 or 8 Pin Lemo Plug, and can be powered by the HSL Rechargeable Battery Box or directly from the aircraft's panel. If the ANR system is turned off or the power to the system is interrupted for example by batteries running down then the system will revert to a comms only failsafe and passive protection level of the standard helmet.

It is recommend that Gel Ear Seals are fitted during the install as they provide a better seal around the ear and enhance the performance of the ANR.

Rechargeable Battery Box

The HSL Rechargeable Battery Box has a sleek design and connects to the Lemo connector providing an approx. 50 hours of operational use. There is a green LED light which shows when the battery box is supplying power to the ANR system within the Alpha helmet. The ON/OFF switch has a lockable feature, whilst the volume control is positioned at the top and allows the user to easily increase and decrease the sound through the Alpha helmet earcups.

The body of the fire retardant battery box has environmental NiMh battery packs and is fitted with a convenient belt clip which allows the user to attach the box to just about any pocket, belt or waistband for easy carry and added security against dropping. The battery box can be charged through the Lemo connector with one of our specially designed mains charger. The recharging time would be approx. 10 hours from fully discharged.
